Chernobyl Holiday

I came across an article the other day about holidaying in Chernobyl. I thought it was a joke at first, I didn't think you were allowed within a 100km of the place. It's for real though, I'm guessing it wouldn't be that easy to organise and I'm sure its not the smartest place to visit. I reckon it would be totally awesome to go there though.

When I was a kid I saw a doco on Chernobyl and I was pretty much instantly enchanted by the idea of the area around the incident that had been deserted. It would be like a huge ghost town or something, left to go wild. I'd imagine hords of mutant animals roaming around, free from hunters and other dangers. I thought it would be cool to go and hang out there, the whole radiation thing was a bit of a drag though.

Reinspired by this article I set out on google and came across this journal this guy/girl made when they motorcycled through the Chernobyl area. It isn't exactly going to win any web design awards, the photos aren't very good quality and the writing is a bit over dramatic but what it shows you rocks my world.

It's cool when things that mystified you when you were a kid can still take you by storm as you get older and wiser.
